RadWasteSystems.org is a website dedicated to the dissemination of information to the public in support of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Radioactive Waste (Radwaste) Systems Committee.
The purpose of the Radwaste Systems Committee is to provide for the collection and exchange of technical and programmatic information relating to the management and transportation of low-level radioactive waste to identify and support programmatic enhancements, improvements in radioactive waste processing systems designs and the continuity of radioactive waste-related programs.
This annual award has been established to honor an individual or organization for distinguished service and eminent achievement in the commercialization of nuclear power/energy, particularly in the field of radioactive waste management. Such achievement may be in research, development, design, innovation, operation, management, education, or public awareness. Candidates are not restricted by profession nor by membership in any engineering society or organization. The award, a certificate and plaque, is named after Sarge Ozker, who was vice chairman of the Nuclear Engineering Division at the time of his death in 1979. Ozker is credited with organizing the radioactive waste management activity in ASME.
